Sarah Hall Ingram, who is currently under fire for her possible role in the IRS scandal involving the IRS’ targeting of conservative groups filing for tax exempt 501(4)(c) status, has been appointed Director of the IRS Affordable Care Act office. She will be responsible for the Affordable Care Act’s implementation.

While her role in the scandal is still unclear, her appointment adds fuel to the scandal’s fire because critics are outraged that an accused official has been given control of something as complex and contentious as the Affordable Care Act.

White House Senior Advisor, Dan Pfeiffer, stated that she has not been convicted of any wrongdoing and a top-down investigation of the IRS will examine Ingram’s 2009 to 2012 tenure as head of the tax-exempt division.
