Healthcare spending has been a hot topic for years, but have you ever wondered what you really know?

MedPage Today recently sponsored a quick five question survey that provides a great fact-check for five important issues. The survey was designed by Paul Hughes-Cromwick, co-director of the Center for Sustainable Health Spending at the Altarum Institute, a nonprofit health systems research and consulting organization headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The survey asks five questions about total U.S. healthcare spending, healthcare spending as a percent of GDP, the type of care that dominates spending, the number of jobs in healthcare, and recent changes in healthcare spending and insurance premiums.

You might think, as I did, that readers of MedPage Today (mostly healthcare professionals) would score well on a quiz about these big picture issues. Yet as of this posting less than 40% of participants earned a “passing” grade of 60% or better, and only nine people have answered all five questions correctly!

Curious how you would do? Click here to take the survey and find out what you know!
